Once again, I can’t share what I’ve been actually working on. But I can share you some (more) early Christmas presents!

Firstly, my friend Leticia wonderfully gifted me two skeins of Koigu yarn in this bright orange color.

I believe some very loud and fun socks are in order, don’t you? I get the distinct feeling that 2012 will be the year I really knuckle down and make many pairs of socks. 2012 is also the year I go on a yarn diet and finally destash the yarn I just don’t want.

My Christmas present to myself came in yesterday and I am very excited about it. I treated myself to an Ablet! It’s a beaded bracelet that’s also an abacus. It’s geared towards knitters but I’m sure there are other uses for it.

It's pretty enough to wear on its own.

There are two columns, one counts the tens and the other the ones. I move a bead up to mark off which row I just finished. The best part is, the beads don’t move one you put them in place and they’re easy enough to slide with one finger or the tip of your knitting needle. The only down side is that it’s full of dangly parts so the cats have been very interested in “catching” it. Particularly when it’s still on my wrist. Ow.  A more serious concern I have about this is that the beads are strung with ribbon and I wonder how much use I’ll get out of it before it starts to fray. But for it’s low price ($25 US) I would not mind buying a new one. I think I know what I’m getting my knitting friends for their birthdays! N.B.: This was not a paid promotional service. I was not contacted by the makers of the Ablet to review their product. This is my honest opinion as a paying customer.
