September is Lymphoma Awareness Month, according to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Which is highly coincidental, since I was diagnosed with Large Diffuse B-Cell Lymphoma on September 10, 2010. For those of you not familiar with that story, you can read the whole thing over here.
I’ve been putting together a series about the Ins and Outs and Dos and Don’ts of cancer. It’s certainly a work in progress but here are a few:
- What to say when your friend has cancer.
- What NOT to say when your friend has cancer.
- Redefining “sexy” thanks to cancer.
For other resources, check out (my favorite) Stupid Cancer. It focuses on people 18 to 45 who have cancer, have a partner with cancer or a parent of an adult child with cancer. The forums were a big help.
If you would like to talk to someone else who has had cancer, the Lymphoma Research Foundation can hook you up with a buddy. Feel free to also email me at vanessa AT mixedmartialartsandcrafts DOT com.
