Year of Projects: The List

I’ve decided to join the Come Blog Along Year of Projects! I’m hoping that this will really cut down my stash and enhance my wardrobe since I’ll be knitting mostly sweaters. It helps that now I have a sweater machine so I should be able to breeze through most of these patterns.

Okay here’s my list so far:

WIPS

Sweaters

Socks

Cowls/Scarves/Neckthings/Shawls (This section is a total “maybe”)

Hands and Head

So it’s quite a list but I am not aiming for all of it to be completed, except for the WIPs. If I could get one of each category done, I’ll be happy. I also want to knit up (or at least swatch up) a bunch of sweater designs I’ve sketched out. They’re all inspired by a cast of characters from a book series I loved as a kid and I’m really excited about the idea. That’s all I want to say just in case it never gets off the ground.

If any of my fair readers have made any of the patterns I’ve listed and can offer a pearl or two of wisdom in the comments, I’m much obliged. Is anyone else participating?

  1. LOVE your list! and Welcome to the group! Looking forward to seeing your progress and those swatches for the sweaters!

  2. Lovely list, you’re going to be very busy. I’ve seen that Owl jumper on several lists, I wish I was good enough at knitting to make one!

  3. I haven’t made any of these, so I have no advice to offer on them, but I totally need to make Skoodlet now that I’ve seen it. Good luck on your year!

  4. Hello Vanessa and welcome to the group. Your list looks great and I’m sure you’ll get lots of encouragement from the members. Hope you’ll post pics of your projects as you complete them. xoxox

  5. This is my first time too – and I’m still trying to figure out my list! It looks like you have a good plan. I hope your sweater designs come together for you. I love the idea that you’re basing them on story characters. Have fun with YoP and Good Luck!

  6. Oh yes, I’m in for a second Year of Projects too! It was great last year to have those goals in writing and apply some discipline to my knitting. If your designs are like mine, it’s wise not to say much – very few of mine knit up the way I anticipate. I hope you’re more successful :)

  7. Yay, welcome to YOP! Your list looks fun and I’m excited to see the sweater machine in action. (No words of advice on the patterns, though.)

  8. Woo! another of my favourite bloggers joining the year of projects!

would love to see you attempt four-at-a-time socks!

    • I think I’ll try it, just because, but I would do little keychain sized socks. I can’t imagine doing two different sized socks AND have it be stranded color work. Oy, that makes my head hurt.

  9. Welcome to the group, it’s fun, encouraging and very helpful group. Hope you enjoy yourself. I have a sweater machine, though I’ve never used it to make sweaters, lol. I’ve made hats and scarves and some afghans on it. Used to have it here in my office and just recently took it to the basement, as I hadn’t used it in quite some time….and it seemed to collect junk and dust. I plan to set it up again down in the basement at some point. What type of a machine do you have? A Bond? Best of luck as we all embark on our mission of year 2.

  10. Welcome to the group and I hope you like it here. I love the look of your list and with your sweater machine I’m sure it will be possible to get all your sweaters done and we are pretty good at encouraging people I must say.
I am really intrigued by your own designs and hope I get so see some of them.
