Year of Projects: Swallowtail Shawl

Some progress on my list has been made on the list. On Friday, I worked on the first chart for the Swallowtail shawl.

It doesn’t look like much, but it’s a start! I’ve made one change to the pattern and that’s using size US 7s instead of the US 6s that are recommended. The yarn is fingering weight but it feels a little heavy without being a sport weight. And my only set of 6s are currently in use for my Sketchbook Cardigan. Obviously, I need to order more from Knit Picks.

I’m not quite sure how much work I’m going to get done today on the shawl. I’ve got a pile of laundry to do, I have to buy groceries and do the dishes. But deep down? I want to stay in my pajamas and knit the day away.

  1. Great start, I love the colour. And I love days you can just knit the day away!

  2. I’d love to sit in my pj’s and knit all day too! Just want to finish off my “Death by Gauntlets” before the end of this week!

  3. That yarn is gorgeous! I discovered I can’t knit and watch t.v……yet. I’m new to knitting so I need all my concentration….I tried and messed up! LOL! That must be fun to be that good where you can watch t.v. and knit. That’s my goal!

  4. Yesterday WAS stay in pajamas and knit while watching the Olympics day. All day. I really should have done the laundry thing but it just wasn’t happening! Hope you made lots of knitting progress, too!

  5. Yesterday I did all thre house chores needed so today is gonna be my pj pants and projects day!

  6. I know all about that feeling on a Sunday! Sometimes, I do stay in my pajamas and knit or crochet the day away :) .

I love the colors for your shawl. It seems one can never have enough needles.

  7. Love the beginning of your shawl and totally agree about staying at home and just knit… after all my half did not care about the household and went to mountain biking… So I knit and crochet most of the day and cook, but I love to cook and household for another day…

  8. I’m with you, I’d love to stay in my pjs and knit all day. Unfortunately there’s just too much on today’s to-do list!

  9. Love the start on your shawl…. I want to stay in my PJs and crochet today….. let’s do it! hehehe

  10. Great start to the shawl and wouldn’t it just be wonderful to spend the days knitting and not have to worry or bother with chores or householdy details.

  11. Yesterday I totally gave into the “stay in my pajamas and knit the day away” temptation. I added in a movie marathon for funsies. Today, sadly, I am doing The Responsible Thing and getting the laundry and dishes taken care of. All I can hear is my sock yarn blanket calling my name, though.

  12. Vanessa, this is such a great start. I love the colorway. Hope you’re feeling well. Have a good Sunday.
