Who has two thumbs and a possible stress fracture? This girl! I’m now in a walking boot/cast thing. Woo!

It’s most likely from running but it’s not showing up on the x-ray because it’s so small. Dr C said that my bones are probably a bit weaker thanks to chemo. Good news is I can use the bike at the gym and still lift weights so I have no excuse to sit on my duff for the next four weeks.
That’s not the only thing I’ve managed to do! I crocheted up a granny square for the Unique Sheep. This is a sample for them, not my first but the first I’ve been able to blog about. I’m really happy with how it came out. What do you think?

The pattern is called “Fare Thee Well” and it’s part of their block of the month club. This was part of the Unique Sheep’s “Picots and Lace” crochet squares, you can purchase the kit to make just this square (and it’s mate) here if you don’t want the full club kit.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I’m sorry to hear about your foot! I always manage to convince myself that I shouldn’t go running, because injuries are so common, but I think that’s just laziness on my part…good luck with it, though! I can’t wait to see the yarnbombing that ensues =)
No! Do it! If you want to, that is! Just take it slow and easy. My bones are also a little “softer” since going through chemo.
I am sorry to hear about your foot. I hope it gets better soon. The granny square is pretty.
so you’ll be sitting for a bit, which is good for knitting. silver lining?
Great summer colors together!
Your poor foot and you :O(. I hope it heals soon.
Cute block! Sucks about the stress fracture though. Does it hurt a lot?
It’s not an “ouch” pain but it’s that weird pins and needles feeling like your foot has fallen asleep. Except it doesn’t quite go away.
Yikes, I’m glad you can still do some other exercise. The granny is super cute – I love the yarn colors.
That so sucks about your foot, but at least you don’t have to stop fitness altogether.
That square is really pretty and clever.
Boo to the owwie! That stinks! Good for you for making plans to exercise around it, though. That’s all kinds of awesome. The square is gorgeous! And I love the colors you chose.
To answer your question: I did one in sort of a hobbled intarsia where I kept pulling the thread back and forth across the opening in the puff to knit the next bit of heart. Worked okay, but was really hard to stuff with all the cross-threading inside. I did the other stranded and it was a huge pain. I’ll let you know if I come up with a method that’s less annoying, because they’re totally cute (if slightly misshapen). Happy weekend!
Sorry to hear about the fracture. They are such a pain in the butt!!!! Check your shoes too. I had really bad tendinitis once from running and a new pair of shoes solved that problem.
I’d love to swap sock yarn with you. Send me your dets on Ravelry and we can set something up. (I’m Harleagh)
