Knitting and crochet blog week is slowly winding down. It feels like it just started, actually.
I’m pretty sure that I blogged about a knitting resolutions list, but I’ll be darned if I can find it. I looked over last year’s similar prompt, Skill +1 UP and I am pleased that since last year, I’ve tried some new things.
- I did some more color work, not stranded but in mosaic form for the Jali hat. If you’re curious to knit with two colors but are a little scared of jumping into stranded knitting or intarsia, I recommend trying a mosaic pattern. It’s a good way to get the feel for knitting with two strands of yarn without having to worry about creating and capturing floats. Plus it’s a great way to really test your chart reading skills!
- I made my first top down raglan sweater, in a child size and in my size. I’m very pleased with the fit of my Featherweight. I did buy blocking wires while at Stitches (come back on Monday for my review!) and I’ll hopefully be able to add a little more length to it. It looks cute as a cropped cardi but I’d like it to be a smidge longer.
- I’m most proud of the Adventure Time hat I made Noelle. She’s the very creative lady who made my current blog layout. She’s very crafty and very sweet and can rock a handle bar moustache like no other gal I know. I couldn’t find a knitted version of Finn’s hat so I made my own! I keep saying that I’m going write up the pattern and I will. Someday! I’m just so confused about copy write laws and if I’d be able to write up a pattern on this or not. I don’t want to get sued for offering a pattern, free or otherwise since the BBC has already set this precedent.
The year is still young-ish and I’m looking forward to trying more things!

There’s a Copyright Matters group on Rav. Ask them.
Love the hat! And I think you can publish the pattern but not charge for it, then youre not making money off their intellectual property
That hat… is AWESOME.
I can’t believe I’ve never tried mosaic knitting–that hat is adorable!
