The great thing about packing is that I’ve uncovered some things I’ve made that I’ve forgotten about. These two pieces were made about two years ago, they were my first attempts at embroidery since college.
This portrait of George Washington has to be my favorite FO ever. The picture came from Brad Neeley’s “Washington” song. It’s NSFW but it’s not too bad. Be prepared to laugh.
I really wish this was how Washington was taught in school. I need to do something with this piece. I’m not sure if I should just frame it or turn it into something. The question is, what sort of something? I’ve thought about having it be the center piece of a pillow and the fabric framing it would be Revolutionary War/Americana Toile. Something like this:
or maybe this:
Second FO that I found was my first attempt at crewel.

This was part of a kit that I found at AC Moore. I think I finished this in a week. I really enjoyed it and I was surprised to find a needlework kit that was small and cute.
This needs a frame as well. Back to packing and uncovering forgotten treasures!

Those are both great. Embroidery is a long lost skill of mine that your posts make me really want to try and unearth. I even bought some thread (floss? I forget) the other day.
I love the Washington piece and your crewel piece too. Your posts always inspire me to do more embroidery, but once I step away from the computer, it wears off a bit
.
How fun to come across these! That Washington video is a hoot.
I love the Washington piece, I thought that video was hilarious when it came out and it seems I still do. Classic.
That Washington thing cracked me up! Your needle work is pretty nice too.
